Things Parents Should be Concerned About in Las Vegas

If you are planning a trip to Las Vegas with your children, then there are some things you should be concerned about.  The most basic concern for parents on a Las Vegas family trip is simple:

What will my children be able to do in Las Vegas?

This is an obvious concern, but don’t worry, there are a lot of fun things to do in Las Vegas.  No need to stress out about that…  we have you covered there, you can give us a call and we can let you know about some of these options!  Yes, we are here in Las Vegas, so you are getting local help!

Beyond the simple question of “will my children have fun on a Las Vegas vacation” there are some basic safety concerns.  Here are some things we’d like you to consider if you are planning a Las Vegas family vacation.

  • Kids should not be free to roam about.  For obvious reasons, leaving kids to themselves is dangerous.  There are a lot of great people here in Las Vegas, but we are also a hub for travellers from all over the country.  You never know who is around, which is why it is important to have an eye on the kids and not let them run wild through one of the motels!
  • Sunburn is an obvious concern for parents.  Having an SPF 50 or higher is necessary for parents coming from colder/darker places.  It can consistently be over 100 degrees in the summer months, and if your kids aren’t used to the exposure (especially as they play by the pools), sunburn can be extreme.
  • Dehydration can be a big concern.  If you are from a cold place, try and make sure your kids drink more water to accomodate the water loss because of the heat and dryness here!
  • Diet – When it comes to nourishment, it is important to realize that the heat is extreme and that foods rich in electolytes will help keep your children happier as they will sweat more here than they may at home
  • Safety while doing their activity – Now in some cased this may mean wearing the appropriate safety harness, or the proper helmet to ensure safety.  We find that most parents really want to make sure that whatever attraction the family is enjoying, that there is proper safety equipment.  You wouldn’t go to the lion exhibit if there was no barrier.  In the same way, would you allow your children to drive fast go karts without a helmet or ride a roller coaster, like at New York, New York without a harness… It is imporant to make sure whatever attraction you and your family are enjoying in Las Vegas, that there is the right safety equipment.
  • Crowd Safety – Especially if you are staying by the Las Vegas strip, it is important to understand that your children may be at more risk of injury with the crowds of people that are walking by.  If your children trip and fall, it is more likely to have a stranger not paying attention walking by.  It is essential to ensure your children’s safety and make sure that you keep them away from large crowds of inebriated people.  ;)
  • Illegal Activities – As a child, I actually found myself playing slots in Las Vegas and I am happy to report that I won about $9.  The casino authorities we not too pleased with my ability to find entertainment for myself.  You need to ensure that your children are entertained with attractions that are fun and free and actually legal for your children.  You may want to consider the options our site sponsor has in mind so that attractions are safe and fun, and LEGAL, for your child.

As a parent, what are some of the things you may want to do while your children are enjoying some of the fun Las Vegas attractions?

  • Relax – If you are wondering about what to do, maybe it is time to just relax!  Haven’t you been doing enough?  Maybe it is time to sit by the pool and sip a drink while the children are in a safe and fun environment!  No one said that sitting by the pool on a nice hot day is the worst way to spend some free time.  Maybe even grab that book that you never got to.
  • Play Some - Don’t bet the farm, of course, but an hour or two of being an adult without having to be totally responsible can be fun!
  • Go on a date – Keeping a relationship is a challenge.  Why not take some of the free time you now have to spark some romance and get some time to catch up.  You have been talking about work and your children for months, but have you been taking the time to make sure that you still know eachother?  If your relationship is stronger, your children will be happier!
  • Go to a Show – There are a ton of shows you can see!  You can see Jabbawockeez or Jersey Boys or Blue Man Group.  Enjoy a show without having to worry about the kids!  We can get them taken care of so that you can enjoy some of the best entertainment in the world!
  • Take a Walk on the Strip – Some of the most fun you can have in Las Vegas is people watching on the Las Vegas strip.  Walk by the Bellagio fountains or simply just see what our city is about.  Why kill your budget having to do a ton of extra work when you can just enjoy what’s happening right around you without having to spend any money.  What we are saying is that now that we have your kids taken care of, you are free to go ahead and just enjoy a day in Vegas!
